Commissioning A Portrait

A commissioned portrait can provide an exclusive possession to treasure, as well as a unique gift for someone special.

Whether to mark a birthday, anniversary, celebration, or other special occasion, a commissioned piece of art is truly unique and personal to the person for which it is intended.

All work is supplied mounted, ready to frame. Those which are not to be delivered by post can be supplied framed - ready to hang. And you don't have to find a fortune! An 8in x 10in portrait of a single subject can be commissioned for as little as 70.00.
Please see Price Guide for commissioned portraits for details.

Cleary & Clary

Each commissioned portrait is supplied with a complementary greetings card featuring the portrait. Further copies can then be ordered. These commission cards offer the ultimate in personalised stationery, and can be used for any occasion from invitations to general correspondence. Please see greetings cards for more information. In addition, other products such as key rings, fridge magnets and notelets can be ordered featuring your commission.

The process:

Your first step is to simply contact me so that we may discuss your requirements and the various options available. If you are unsure as to whether any particular request can be met, please feel free to ask.

Supplying reference photographs:

When choosing reference photographs, bear in mind that the finished portrait will be greatly influenced by the quality of the photographs supplied. Photos should be reasonably large and as sharp and clear as possible. If you are unsure about the suitability of your photos, simply email them to me, and I will be pleased to give my opinion along with any suggestions which may be helpful. If you live within a 40 mile radius of Louth, I am able to pay you a visit and photograph the subject myself - please contact me for fees.

Completion times:

Completion times can vary between 2 - 6 weeks depending on current workload, so always allow plenty of time if planning a birthday gift, etc. If you require completion more quickly, just ask - I may be able to help.

A non-refundable deposit of 25% is required before commencement of the work - the remaining balance being due on completion.

Once completed, a scan of the portrait will be emailed to you for your approval. Once you are satisfied, and the remaining balance has been received, the portrait will be despatched to you by a secure method.

The right is reserved to photograph all work for private portfolio and to use any unsold commissioned work for resale, exhibition, advertising, etc.

Images of sold commissions will only be used for promotional purposes with the express permission of the purchasers.
